Dodowa is an African village where much of the daily social and business interaction takes place under large trees. Often the most exciting activity for children is pumping water from the local bore hole. Then they put the full containers on their heads and carry the precious cargo home.
After thorough needs evaluation and careful coordination with Elder and Sister Huff (proselyting missionaries) and local Priesthood leaders, LDS Charities representatives made a wonderful visit to Dodowa. Elder and Sister Strong, Welfare Services Missionaries, led the delegation of missionaries and local Priesthood leaders. Elder and Sister Hales, Area Public Affairs Directors, were there and shared these excellent pictures of the activities. Elder and Sister Huff's efforts in Dodowa have greatly increased the awareness of the Church there and the donations presented this day clearly demonstrated the Church's intent to bless the lives of people in the community.

So what happens when LDS Charities comes to town?
The local library receives cases of good, new books.
Sister Strong examines the books with Church representatives and library personnel.
Abraham, whose legs were paralyzed 12 years ago by a stray bullet, receives a new wheelchair. |
Elder Huff provides some initial support as Abraham learns to manage his new mobility. |
Then an event that many have prayed for...
Sister Huff has the honor of setting... | ...Rebecca in her new wheelchair. |
Elder Huff provides some instruction... | ...and shows Rebecca how it moves. |
Rebecca with Her Family (l to r) Father, Rebecca, Mother, Brother, Grandmother |

Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not:
for of such is the kingdom of God.
(Luke 18:16)
...and he took their little children, one by one,
and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.
(3 Nephi 17:21)
